Kumasi-based businesswoman Patricia Ababio has revealed that she rushed into marriage to prove to her ex-boyfriend that she was marriage material.
In an interview on Daily Hustle with DJ Nyaami, Patricia indicated that she proposed the idea of marriage to her then-boyfriend (now divorced) due to pressure from friends and the pain from her past relationship.
According to Patricia, they rushed into marriage without fully getting to know each other. She said, “I was naive at the time. Colleagues, friends and relatives were getting married. So it put pressure on me.
Then I mentioned marriage to my partner four months into the relationship. Aside from the peer pressure, I got married because an ex had gotten married that year, and I wanted to prove to him that I’m marriage material.”
The divorcée disclosed that it was the “biggest mistake I made.” Moreover, Patricia mentioned that she was gullible and immature and avoided all signs leading up to a cheating spouse.
“I didn’t know all the signs to look out for in a cheating partner. All I knew was that my friends were getting married and my ex was married. So I needed to be married,” she said.
Besides the infidelity, Patricia recalled the disrespect and his unpreparedness to be in a marriage. She advised the youth to be wary and shun all forms of peer pressure to avoid regret.
