Nana Agyemang, a Ghanaian based in the United States, recently returned as a guest on SVTV Africa’s Daily Hustle Worldwide show with DJ Nyaami.

During the interview, Nana Agyemang advised fellow Ghanaians living abroad to remain overseas and earn a stable income unless they have an established business in Ghana that can sustain them. He emphasized that returning home without a financial plan could be a mistake.

“Good children can be raised anywhere in the world—not only abroad. If you over-pamper your kids or fail to discipline them properly, you could lose them to negative influences.” He added that he plans to send his own children to Ghana for the holidays, and if they decide to stay, he’s fully in support.

Nana recounted how one of his cousins, who was American-born, visited Ghana, loved the freedom there, and decided to stay permanently until his passing. He believes Ghana offers a unique sense of freedom and peace.

He also touched on racism in the U.S., sharing a painful incident during the COVID-19 pandemic when someone called him a monkey and told him to go back to Africa.

“I didn’t respond, even though it hurt,” he said. He observed that Black people are often unfairly targeted in situations where White individuals are ignored, saying, “It’s clear we’re not truly wanted here.”

On the topic of property, Nana encouraged people not to build homes in Ghana just to impress others. “Live within your means,” he said. “You can start with a one-bedroom house and work toward a bigger home. Use wisdom in your financial decisions.”

He also opened up about personal struggles, mentioning that he lost his car in an accident and is still paying off the loan.

“The insurance will cover some costs, but I’m mentally exhausted,” he admitted. “I’ve already booked my flight—I’m heading back to Ghana this year. I won’t let this stress break me.”
