Vincent Wadee, a Netherlands-based Ghanaian stated that social media has made the Ghanaian youth lazy adding that the traditions and cultures make them timid.
In a chat on SVTV Africa with DJ Nyaami, Mr Wadee indicated that the rise of social media has significantly impacted the younger generation, leading to decreased motivation and productivity. Social media platforms have fostered a culture of instant gratification, making young people less proactive and driven.
In addition, Mr Wadee stated that Ghana’s cultural traditions do not encourage individuals to question and explore, thus hindering the development of a curious mindset.
“Social media has made many people lazy. But it does not provide food. It is just a means of communication but they have made it their whole lives. It’s not just in Ghana. It’s the same here.
Most natives get jealous when they see foreigners thrive in their country. I’m not proud of our traditions and cultures because they do not make us curious or ask questions,” he said on Daily Hustle Worldwide.
Moreover, Vincent added that Ghana must have a bold leader to challenge the influence of external powers, particularly in food production investment.
