Japan-based Ghanaian Timothy Boateng did not reveal his daily wage but mentioned that the lowest rank workers at his job make about GHS600 daily.
In a chat on Daily Hustle Worldwide, Timothy indicated that his factory job pays well enough, making him comfortable. Timothy disclosed that his dream country was the US, but he’ll visit for holidays because he enjoys the job and life in Japan.
“I’ll go to the US for holidays at least, but you never know where life may take you. You can’t work here if you’re lazy or weak. You will find a job but won’t get the money you want.
The lowest a worker earns is GHS600 for eight hours daily at my job. I haven’t seen anyone working on an hourly basis in Japan. Most of us work eight hours a day,” he told DJ Nyaami.
Timothy also spoke about the cost of living, racism, systems and more in the country. In response to what Japanese people know about Ghana, Timothy said, “They know Ghana for chocolate. Chocolate comes to mind whenever they hear Ghana.”
Japan’s Ghana chocolate is made by the Korean Company Lotte Confectionary. The name of the Ghana chocolate bar is meant as a reference to Ghana, which is one of the world’s largest exporters of cocoa beans.
