Italy-based Nigerian Hannah Valery revealed that she closed her beauty shop to travel abroad because she believed that was the only means to success.

In an interview on Daily Hustle Worldwide, Hannah indicated that friends living abroad influenced her to pack up and leave. Hannah set up her salon after she was deported from Europe. Hannah’s friends encouraged her to go back.

“I sold the shop and left Nigeria. Besides the encouragement from friends, I had just divorced my husband. He helped me squander all my money, so I left him. I thought it’d be better to start afresh in a new country than in Nigeria. I only discussed it with my sister because my mother would not have allowed me to go. I planned to tell her after I arrived in Europe,” she revealed.

Speaking on her journey to Libya, Hannah described it as a fatal and traumatising one that she may never forget. According to Hannah, she tried multiple times to cross and spent about a year in Libya before finally crossing the Mediterranean Sea.

“I left Nigeria in 2016. Our boat capsized on the Mediterranean Sea. I left Nigeria with many of my friends, but they all died. I don’t know how God saved me. Only my head could be seen. I woke up later in a Libyan prison. I was told some fishermen saved us. We were about 200 people, but less than 100 survived,” Hannah told DJ Nyaami.
