Germany-based Ghanaian Gilbert Owusu has stated that he will only return to work in Ghana if the job pays GHS10,000 or more monthly.

In a chat on Daily Hustle Worldwide, Gilbert indicated that he would reject a GHS5000 job in Ghana because he saves more in Germany currently. Moreover, getting another job with a similar salary range may be difficult if he ever chooses to quit.

“I can’t stay in Ghana with a GHS5000 salary. It won’t be enough for me because I know what I want and I’ve experienced more in Europe. It has to be close to what I make here because I save more than the GHS5000,” he said.

SVTV AFRICA’s DJ Nyaami asked how much he saves monthly, and Gilbert said, “I save about GHS10,000. Even for a GHS15,000 job in Ghana, I’d have to think about it because if I’m fired, will I get another that pays the same salary? But if I lose my job here, I’ll be paid for one year while I search for another job.”

Gilberto works with the luxury vehicle company BMW. He also spoke about how Ghanaians in Germany often settle for menial jobs because of the language. He added that everyone has countless opportunities but must endeavour to learn the language.
