Royal Lady, a Ghanaian woman based in the United Kingdom, shared her emotional story in an interview with DJ Nyaami on SVTV Africa’s Daily Hustle Worldwide show, opening up about her failed marriage, motherhood, and the life lessons she has learned.
During the interview, she clarified that her husband did not leave because of their autistic child, as many people assumed. According to her, the marriage ended because of her own decisions and choices. She admitted that she loved the wrong person and, in the process, lost the man who truly loved her.
“Bad choices, not witchcraft, destroyed my marriage,” she stated, explaining that when love is blind, people ignore warning signs. She said she was young, deeply in love, and not thinking critically at the time. She revealed that she was dating two men simultaneously. The man she had strong feelings for eventually disappointed her, while the one who genuinely loved her moved on.
Although one of the men struggled with alcohol, she acknowledged that it was a weakness they could have worked through together. Instead, she chose emotions over character — a decision she now regrets.
Speaking about her child, Royal Lady emphasized that autism is not a sickness. She explained that autistic children simply see and experience the world differently. She admitted that she initially did not understand the condition and spent money trying to “treat” a child who was not sick. It was only later that she realized her child was autistic.
Raising an autistic child in the UK, she noted, comes with significant challenges. As a single mother of three children aged six, four, and two, she faces daily struggles. With no car, she walks everywhere to take care of her children’s needs, including school runs. “Three children, three schools, no car — this is my reality,” she said.
She explained that being a single mother abroad is far more difficult than many people think. Life in the UK, she added, is not as easy or glamorous as it appears online. Although one of her videos went viral, she said the pain behind it was real.
Royal Lady revealed that she came to TikTok because of her child and eventually found that social media became an escape during a lonely period in her life. At the time, she had no friends and no guidance — only mistakes and lessons learned the hard way.
She credited six months of therapy for helping her heal and rebuild her life. Through counseling and self-reflection, she has grown stronger and wiser. She now says she has learned from her experiences and will never repeat the same mistakes.
Her advice to others is simple: do not take what does not belong to you because it will not last. If someone loves you and only has small flaws, work on the relationship together. Moving on is not always the best solution; sometimes staying and building together is wiser.
Through her story, Royal Lady hopes others will learn before making decisions they may later regret.
