Sister Appeals for Help to Find Missing Brother After 25 Years

Kanda Issah, a Ghanaian woman based in Accra, has made an emotional appeal on SVTV Africa’s Connect show with DJ Nyaami, seeking help to locate her elder brother who has been missing for over 25 years.

Kanda, who hails from Kintampo and is a Sisala, explained that her brother, Mumuni Isaka, left home around the year 2000 and has not been heard from since. According to her, Mumuni attended the University of Ghana, Legon, and later took responsibility for their last-born sibling by enrolling him at St. John’s Senior High School.

She recounted that after Mumuni left, the family completely lost contact with him. The only trace they ever received was a phone call he made many years ago to a Testa landline, during which he said he wanted to speak to his junior brother. That call was the last time anyone heard directly from him.

“At the time, my father was still alive and made several efforts to find him, but all attempts failed,” Kanda said.

Now, decades later, the pain remains fresh—especially for their mother, who is currently in her early 80s and desperately wishes to see her son before she passes away. The family has seven siblings, and Kanda is the second-born. She added that her father also had other children.

Kanda explained that her brother is known by different names. His official name is Mumuni Isaka, but his traditional names are Bator or Tomyie, which could help people who may know him under a different identity.

She revealed that she personally moved to Accra in 2014, brought by a relative, and has continued searching since then. Based on all indications, she strongly believes her brother is no longer in Ghana and may be living abroad.

To assist identification, she also shared their parents’ details:

Father’s nickname: Kokohwedeɛ (also known as Began Akomfirm)

Mother’s name: Memunatu

Kanda’s appeal is a heartfelt call to the public, especially Ghanaians at home and abroad, to help reunite a family that has waited a quarter of a century for answers.

Anyone with information about Mumuni Isaka (Bator/Tomyie) is encouraged to reach out through SVTV Africa or DJ Nyaami’s platform to help bring closure and hope to an aging mother and a grieving family.
