Joe Kuntani: Ghanaian Comedian on Tour in France

Ghanaian stand-up comedian and content creator Joe Kuntani is currently in France for a two-week tour. In an interview on SVTV Africa’s Daily Hustle Worldwide show, he shared his experience traveling, adapting to the French system, and the realities of life abroad.

According to Joe, life in France is quite different from what many Ghanaians imagine. “Back home, people think abroad is all about luxury. But the truth is, you work hard here, pay bills, and the system takes a large part of your earnings. If a Ghanaian sends you money from abroad, value it—it’s not easy,” he stressed.

He noted that while jobs are more available in France compared to Ghana, they come with pressure and responsibilities. “In Ghana, jobs are scarce, but here in France there’s work. The difference is, you are paid to work really hard, and everything you earn goes back into bills,” he explained.

Joe also spoke about how his career in content creation opened doors for him, even though it hasn’t yet made him wealthy. “My content has brought me opportunities, like this tour, but it hasn’t given me the big money yet. I once used music to approach a lady and it went viral—that kind of creativity pushed me into the limelight,” he said.

During his stay, Joe has been performing and even sang in French, which earned him applause from locals. He also cautioned Ghanaians not to be deceived by how “borgas” (Ghanaians abroad) portray life overseas. “They post pictures with bottled water and luxury items to make it seem easy, but the reality is different,” he said.
