Florinda’s Story: From Nursing to Business
Florinda, a young woman Florinda known affectionately as Hajiaa, recently completed her nursing training just two weeks ago. Although she trained in healthcare and worked in hospitals, she chose to focus on entrepreneurship instead of chasing a formal job.
Her inspiration came from her mother, who has long been in the business of selling lamugi (a traditional millet drink), sobolo, and other beverages. Growing up around the trade, Florinda decided to rebrand and establish her own business, determined to build something sustainable from the ground up—even though she started with nothing.
What sets her apart is the unique way she runs her juice business. Before serving customers, she asks about their health conditions—for instance, checking if someone has an ulcer—because she knows that not all fruits and drinks are suitable for everyone. This careful, health-conscious approach is rooted in her nursing knowledge.
Florinda studied nursing at Kirk’s, where she also discovered the importance of self-development. She believes education is not just about school but about acquiring knowledge to upgrade one’s life. For her, the real goal is to grow her business while using her healthcare background to serve people better.
“My business is my dream, and I’m determined to make it succeed,” she said.
