International Photographer Finds Business Opportunities in Ghana, Launches Trash Collection Venture

International photographer Patience Wolfe, who first came to Ghana in 2021, says she is proud of the progress and beauty she sees whenever she lands in the country. In an interview with DJ Nyaami on SVTV Africa’s Daily Hustle Worldwide Show, she revealed that her initial plan was to visit Ghana to explore business opportunities.

During her stay, she met a young man — a university graduate — who now manages her business. Together, they ventured into the waste collection industry, buying tricycles to start a trash collection service. Wolfe explained that the graduate, despite his educational background, was open-minded and willing to engage in the work.

“Within just one month, we started making profits. Even after deducting all expenses, we still earned good money. Just last week, we made a decent amount, yet people keep saying there’s no money in Ghana,” she shared.

She added that demand for cleaning services has also emerged, so they plan to expand the company to include cleaning services soon.

Patience emphasized that opportunities exist in Ghana for those willing to learn new trades:

> “If business is not your field, you can always learn it. I went abroad to study filmmaking, and I have returned to Ghana to use the knowledge I acquired to help people.”

She further criticized the Ghanaian media for sidelining quality local movies in favor of Nigerian and Indian productions. According to her, Ghana has smart and talented people who deserve a thriving creative industry.

Her long-term vision is to help establish a Silicon Valley in Ghana that will include a film school and innovation hub.

> “The Chinese travel abroad, learn new things, and return to build their country. That’s exactly what I want to do here. If you are focused, you can achieve anything you want.”
