Prince, the CEO of Barne Football Club and a licensed football agent, has dedicated his life to discovering and nurturing football talent across Africa and Europe. His agency focuses on identifying young players and facilitating their transition into professional football, helping them secure contracts with top clubs. Barne FC has built strong global scouting connections, with one of its biggest talent showcases scheduled for July 1, 2025.
Prince’s journey began in 1991 when, at the age of 21, he moved from Kumasi, Ghana, to Germany. His father worked with Ghana Water and Sewerage Corporation and was often transferred, which led the family to settle in Kumasi after his retirement. Prince arrived in Germany with no family support but was determined to succeed. He initially came through the asylum system, and with help from others, he was eventually granted legal residence (Nkrataa) and got his own apartment.
He recalls that back then, life in Germany was easier — food was cheap, jobs were plentiful, and many Africans shared rooms to save money. Nigerians, in particular, were known for their unity and discipline when it came to saving and supporting each other. In contrast, Prince noted that Ghanaians often struggled to live communally due to interpersonal differences.
During those early years, it was common for African men to try to marry white women to obtain residency papers. Some would even pretend to be African Americans, wearing clothes with U.S. flags to attract attention.
Though Prince ventured into several businesses in Ghana, they didn’t yield the success he had hoped for. He never played football professionally but had always dreamt of training young players after retirement. That passion led him to set up a football academy, first identifying local talent in Ghana and later helping them transition to European clubs where football is more structured and financially rewarding.
He now partners with various European football academies, facilitating talent exchange and organizing trials (justifiers) for African players in Europe. Some European scouts also travel to Ghana through his network to recruit promising talents.
With official authorization to bring players abroad, Prince has become a key figure in bridging the football gap between Africa and Europe. Though he keeps some of his partner club names confidential, the impact of his work is evident in the success stories emerging from Barne Football Club and its international outreach.
