A Ghanaian man (name withheld) shared a troubling experience in which he was deceived by both his host and a lawyer.

He explained that his host, whom he had trusted, recommended a lawyer to assist him with his legal issue who quoted him a fee of $6,000 for handling the case. In an interview on M’haintasɛm, (My Secret) the man began to suspect that something was not right.

He discovered that his host had secretly collaborated with the lawyer to orchestrate a scam. Instead of genuinely representing his interests, the lawyer and the host together tried to convince him that his only option was to accept deportation willingly.

Feeling pressured and misled, the man realized that they were conspiring against him, leaving him vulnerable and without the legal support he thought he had.

“My host ruined my life. I’ve wasted two years in the US going back and forth on this. At one point, the lawyer told me to flee to Canada. I’m currently on the deportation list. I consulted another lawyer who has promised to help me but I have to pay $2000 and wait for the case to be opened again,” he noted.
