UK-based Ghanaian known on social media as Poundz the Barber disclosed that a travel agent duped him off GHS30,000.
Poundz mentioned that his former boss invested in him by establishing a barbering salon for him for the good work he did for her (boss). Speaking with DJ Nyaami on SVTV AFRICA, Poundz stated that the agent visited him at his shop and advised him to travel abroad to make more money with his talent. However, he turned out to be a fraud.
“I started the barbering shop with the help of the woman. She opened the shop for me and I did not need to pay her back. A man came by to say I’d make more money abroad as a barber and told me he would help me travel abroad. He took some money to apply for my passport and brought it. So, I trusted him.
He called to ask for GHS30,000 for the process. I sold the shop and everything in it for cheap and added my savings to give to the agent. That was the biggest mistake I made,” he narrated.
According to Poundz, he could not reach the agent after the transfer. He said that is how ungrateful and stupid some of us are. I could have reached out to her and she may have helped with my plan to travel. But I didn’t do that.”
