Joyce was charged GHS48,000 by the agent and had to work for two years to settle the debt. However, she fled from the agent after paying GHS15,000 and has since received threats from the agent.

“The agent did not inform me about the GHS48,000 charge. The agent told me after I arrived. At one point after I left, the agent came to my job, and my current boss had to hide me from her in a room. I don’t know what would have happened if my Arab boss had not saved me from the agent.

My passport has been seized. I couldn’t return to Ghana when my parents died. I want to go back home. I’m scared for my life right now. I’m still trying to register for a travel certificate, but I have to pay first,” she said.

Joyce advised young girls in Ghana and Africa to be vigilant of such fraudulent activities. She disclosed that some of her colleagues have died in Saudi Arabia.
