UK-based Nigerian Chima noted that he was full of regrets after quitting his well-paying job in Nigeria to settle abroad.

Speaking on Daily Hustle Worldwide, Chima mentioned that he got a job that provided a car and an apartment right after his national service, but he gave it up to join his wife (now ex) in the UK. According to Chima, he regretted his decision because he became jobless for months.

“Life was averagely okay in Nigeria, but I was jobless for two months. The weather was a shock as well. Setting up a bank account was also a problem. I only got about two shifts per week. So it was easy, but I’m very resilient. I persisted and worked hard,” he said.

Responding to whether moving to the UK has been worthwhile, Chima said, “I will say the end justifies the means. I’m happy now. But I’ll advise the youth to focus on their jobs if it is a good one. Before I came here, I thought the money would be at my Beck and call.”

“If I had my way, the UK would have been a holiday destination. By now, I could have been an area marketing manager. It’s not as easy as people think. You may spend your youthful age working so hard, but you may be gone by the time you get the money, Chima advised.

Moreover, Chima added that many Africans abroad starve themselves to make enough to send to families and discouraged others from selling their properties for a ‘better life.’
