UK-based Ghanaian Kofi Boateng stated that he thought his teacher salary in Ghana was okay until he travelled to the UK.

In an interview on SVTV AFRICA with DJ Nyaami, Kofi indicated that he realised his salary was trash after working in the UK. Despite entering the UK as a student, he works part-time and makes more than his salary in Ghana.

According to Kofi Boateng, he wanted to become a pilot in future. However, his WASSCE results were not good enough to pursue that dream. Eventually, he got a job as a teacher and studied for it. Kofi worked as a teacher in Ghana for eight years and mentioned that it was good until he left.

“It was good, but when you travel abroad, you realise the salary was trash. I say that because we work hard, but the money is little. It was enough because I was single and catered only for myself.”

The host of Daily Hustle Worldwide, DJ Nyaami, asked if he would return to Ghana to work, but he said, “For what? I worked in Ghana for eight years but couldn’t afford a piece of land. Do you know how much my watch and shoes cost? I won’t come back.”

Kofi added that he could make over 7000 pounds after his education if the UK immigration grants him a working visa.
