Germany-based Ghanaian Evangelist Bright Dartey has disclosed that he only asked for a pair of handmade ‘Ahenema’ slippers, and he gave reasons why.
In an interview on Daily Hustle Worldwide, Evangelist Bright mentioned that some people thought it would take a fortune to marry his daughter, but he only asked for a pair of slippers.
According to Mr Dartey, his daughter’s husband did not have documents at the time, but he did not charge him as some do in Germany.
“My friends told me I should take 10,000 Euros, but I didn’t mind. I only wanted this ahenema. If you marry off your daughter to a man and charge such an amount, you’re only selling him off. Secondly, your daughter and her new family will never respect you anymore.
Thirdly, they’ll accept anything you say as trash because you sold your daughter off. But because of what I did, my son-in-law respects me and will run to me whenever I call,” he explained.
Evangelist Bright stated that he protects his integrity and never would do anything to ruin the reputation he’s built in Germany. He advised Ghanaian parents living abroad to be wary of such deals despite the fear that the prospective son-in-law may divorce her after getting the documents.
