Albert Kpenu has stated that many Ghanaian men, especially those abroad, suffer from divorce because of the tribes they marry into.

Speaking on SVTV Africa, Albert mentioned that with his experience and those of family and friends, women who usually leave their husbands during tough times are Akans. According to him, divorce cases abroad are mostly among Asante and Akyem women.

“Many guys who have experienced divorce abroad were once married to an Akan woman. Ethnic discrimination is what is worrying us. I know a Ewe woman who married a Fante man and stayed with him even after he cheated.

These Akan ladies use the men to get out of the country and divorce them later. It is among the Akans mostly not all Ghanaian women,” he explained.

Moreover, Albert indicated that he dated several Akan women, but their families always disapprove of him. He added that he likes Asante women for their determination.

“I was talking to a lady in US who liked me a lot, but later she asked what tribe I am, and I said Ga Adangbe from Ningo Prampram. She told me that they do not marry into that tribe, and she blocked me. She is an Asante,” he added.

Albert, however, disclosed that ladies from the Northern region, Ewes and Ga Adangbes, are very faithful and stay with their spouses through thick and thin.

“We always complain of racism, but we discriminate against each other’s tribes in Ghana. How different is that,” Albert quizzed.
