UK-based Ghanaian ERN Ruthy has disclosed that she almost jumped off a three-storey building after a family member sexually abused her at age 12.
In an interview on Daily Hustle Worldwide, Ruth revealed that some family members did not believe her when she told them. Eventually, the man spread rumours about her, and this made her suicidal
“In the beginning, it was hard for my mom to believe, but she taught about it and later believed me. She took me to Holland to help me deal with it. They want to die to forget what I was going through.
While I was away, he spread rumours that I falsely accused him of rape. So everyone heard it, and the community members supported him. When I came back, I didn’t know that the case was all over,” she recounted.
Ruthy mentioned that she lost all her friends, and the distress made her suicidal. According to her, an Auntie saved her from committing suicide.
“It was a painful and difficult time. I wanted to commit suicide at the age of 12. I wanted to jump from the third floor, but an Aunt stopped me. I felt like it was going to end,” Ruth added.
Ruth mentioned that the family member often touched her boobs and buttocks while asleep. Moreover, he tried to have sex with her, but he never succeeded.
