Tanzanian radio presenter Mwijaku has apologised to Tanasha Oketch for referring to himself — and not Tanasha’s ex-lover Diamond Platnumz — as the father of 8-month old Naseeb Junior.
Last week, Mwijaku — who took to Instagram on separate occasions to call himself Naseeb Junior’s father — sparked criticism from, among others, musician Ray C, who called out the radio host for “disrespecting” Diamond Platnumz and Tanasha.
“There are people who are badly affected by cyberbullying. Mwijaku, you have not done a good thing by claiming you sired Tanasha’s son. Tanasha, get a lawyer and sue this [expletive]. This is beyond disrespectful. This has to stop. It’s not funny at all,” said Ray C on Instagram.
Responding to Ray C’s post, Tanasha said she had already contacted her lawyer, and Mwijaku would soon be served with the lawsuit.
“Empty vessels make the loudest noise, sister. You know empty? He will be receiving a letter from my lawyer soon. Let us see if he will still be as enthusiastic by the time he is in court,” said the ex-NRG radio host.
And now, Mwijaku has come out to apologise to Tanasha, saying his statements were misconstrued.
Speaking to journalists in Tanzania on Wednesday, May 27, Mwijaku said: “I ask Kenyans to forgive me if they misunderstood my remarks about the paternity of Tanasha’s child. I also apologise to Tanasha’s family. I did not have bad intentions when I said Tanasha’s child was my son. I am usually guided by the customs and traditions of Kigoma people in Tanzania.”
“Biologically, Tanasha’s son belongs to Diamond Platnumz. However, I would like to state that we, as Kigoma people, have strong genes, and that is why the child resembles me. If she (Tanasha) misinterpreted my remarks, I am seeking her forgiveness. There is no need for any DNA test to be conducted. That child was not sired by me. I’m humbly asking Tanasha and Kenyans not to misinterpret me when I call Tanasha’s child ‘my son’. I am glad they would, henceforth, understand the context,” added Mwijaku.
Mwijaku has, in more than one occasion, said on social media that he was the father of Tanasha’s son, and not heavy-hitter Diamond Platnumz.
Side-by-side pictures of himself and Naseeb Junior have also been posted online to exhibit their similarity.
Tanasha, 24, and Diamond Platnumz, 30, who are no longer dating, welcomed Naseeb Junior in October 2019.
The couple went separate ways in February 2020 after being in a relationship for 15 months, with both citing unmet expectations as the reason for their split.
