Phar Rangers FC President Nana Yaw Amponsah has suggested to the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to consider restarting the league in September.
To him, that will ensure the synchronization of the Ghana Premier League (GPL) with the European calendar.
The Division One campaigners’ boss said it will be appropriate to restart the league on the proposed month, taking into account plans of most countries across Europe targeting a restart of their leagues in September.
“If we want to synchronize our league with that of Europe, then we must wait and start in September. At the moment, the Accra Sports Stadium pitch will not be ready for football for the next one month. Let’s give ourselves up to September to start a new league so clubs can start to prepare and meet the club licensing requirements,” he said via Zoom on the effects of COVID-19 on football.
He pointed out that resuming the league in September offers clubs in the country a fine opportunity in the transfer market.
On June 30, the GFA is expected to announce to the clubs on the future of the season whether to truncate the season or continue.
The league, like all leagues across the globe, has been on the shelves since early this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
