I cried when I saw the job my father was doing in Germany – Germany-based Ghanaian

Germany-based Ghanaian James Caesar has revealed that he cried out when he visited his father’s job in Germany.

Speaking on SVTV Africa, James mentioned that before moving to Europe, he thought his father worked in the corporate world, but his father worked menially. According to him, the sight of his father being scolded by his boss broke his heart.

“I was happy when he invited me to his workplace, and I thought he wore a suit for work and all. If you give me a restaurant job in Ghana, I won’t do it.

So I was sad when I saw him working in a restaurant in Germany. There were about four other Ghanaians in the restaurant, and seeing s his boss shouting at him made me cry out even more,” he recounted.

James indicated that he moved from his father’s house to work in an Auntie’s shop for a while before settling for other jobs. He added that menial jobs among Ghanaians and Africans have become a norm.

“I’ve been here for four years, and it has become normal. But back then, it was tough,” he added.

According to James, his parents offered to send him abroad because he was stubborn. He lived with his mom in Kumasi, where he grew up.

“We were okay financially, but I was stubborn. Sometimes, I would join friends to work as ‘trotro mate’ to make my mom worry,” he told DJ Nyaami.
