Germany based Ghanaian Catherine Amo has revealed that she is frustrated as a mother of five and believes she would have been better off in Ghana.

In a chat on Daily Hustle Worldwide, Mrs Amo disclosed that she lived in a camp for seven years with her newborns after her husband was deported to Ghana.

According to Mrs Amo, she lived in a single room with her husband and a child while pregnant with twins. She stated that her husband cried when he heard they were having twins.

“Living in a single room in Portugal without a resident permit and expecting two more babies. It wasn’t easy. We had to move from Portugal to Germany in 2004. He didn’t even see the babies when they were born till they were seven.”

In response to whether she benefitted from her 22-year stay abroad, Catherine mentioned, “if I talk of wealth, then no. I’m a normal person. If I had the support in Ghana, I might have been more successful. Life here hasn’t been beneficial.”

Despite the government support she enjoys, Mrs Amo stated that it isn’t much. Moreover, they lack freedom, unlike Ghanaians living in Ghana.

“It is not easy to stay abroad. We have no freedom here. We are frustrated, and those who wish to come here will not make it,” Catherine told DJ Nyaami.

Speaking about her recent trip to Ghana, Mrs Amo mentioned that the country is better off “if you have a job. My husband leaves for work at 3 am. How many Ghanaians will accept such jobs,”
