Soraya has shared her journey of living abroad and the lessons she has learned, especially about building a stable future.

She revealed that she initially considered staying in her host country to pursue opportunities for her generation but soon realized the importance of learning a trade. “I had to integrate and learn the system in the country. After finishing school, I got pregnant again and now I have two children,” she said.

Reflecting on her experience, Soraya explained that many young people go abroad searching for jobs, hoping to succeed, but without learning a trade or skill, it’s difficult to climb the ladder. “You might do fine here, but to move higher, you need someone to guide you. Most of us come here for work but forget to learn something that will last,” she noted.

Soraya also shared that she didn’t know anyone in Germany initially and stayed with her friend’s mother. She is currently in a relationship with her boyfriend, who visits her in Ghana but prefers not to stay there permanently.

In an interview with DJ Nyaami on SVTV Africa’s Daily Hustle Worldwide show, she highlighted the challenges of depending on government support abroad. “When you take money from the government, you’re not free. You depend on their resources unless you have no other choice,” she said.

Despite the challenges, Soraya does not regret going abroad. However, she is focused on returning to Ghana at the right time. “I want to come back when things are working out for me. If things are good abroad, sometimes you don’t want to return, but my goal is to make it work back home,” she explained.

Her story emphasizes the importance of gaining skills, planning ahead, and knowing when to seize the right moment to return home.
