UK-Based Lady Sledge Opens Up About Romance Scam Ordeal
A UK-based Ghanaian woman popularly known as Lady Sledge has shared her painful experience of heartbreak and deception in a recent emotional revelation.
According to her, she had stopped doing music a long time ago after suffering a broken heart. She explained that after her divorce, she had never dated a younger man until she met a man who claimed to be in his 40s. She said she usually dated men her age, but this particular man made her feel special and desired.
“He told me he liked me, and I said I liked him too,” she recounted.
Lady Sledge revealed that the relationship started about five months ago after the man was introduced to her through a recommendation. Though he frequently traveled between Ghana and the UK on a visa, she met him both in Ghana and in the UK. She clarified that her trip to Ghana last year was mainly because of family, not because of him.
She admitted that she fell deeply in love, describing herself as “love blind.” However, things took a troubling turn when the man began pressuring her to sign property documents. She said she almost handed over important documents, believing he had genuine intentions.
“I signed my land document and gave it to him,” she revealed.
Fortunately, her cousin became suspicious and warned her that it could be a scam. After seeking advice, she retrieved the documents before any permanent damage was done. She later discovered that the man allegedly had a pattern of targeting women, using romantic relationships to gain access to their properties and assets.
Lady Sledge said the most painful part was realizing that she had been manipulated emotionally. She believes the man used affection and intimacy as a strategy to gain her trust.
“My problem is not about the relationship itself. My problem is that he came with an agenda,” she said.
She added that after she began questioning him and demanding accountability, he stopped answering her calls. According to her, similar incidents had happened to other women, including her cousin, who also allegedly encountered a man with similar tactics.
Lady Sledge is now speaking out to create awareness, especially for women both in Ghana and abroad. She warned that some young men deliberately target older women, offering affection and attention while secretly pursuing financial gain.
Her experience serves as a cautionary tale about the risks of romance scams and the importance of verifying intentions before signing any legal documents or making financial commitments in a relationship.
She encouraged women to remain vigilant, seek advice from trusted family members, and protect their assets at all times.
