Jonathan Asamoah, a Ghanaian entrepreneur based in Hohoe, Volta Region, recently appeared on SVTV Africa’s Daily Hustle GH and Business Link show with DJ Nyaami. Jonathan, known as Joe, runs a successful food business serving breakfast, lunch, and supper across Hohoe and surrounding areas.

He developed an interest in food business early on. After completing a BSc in Administration with a major in Accounting at the University of Ghana Business School, Jonathan took over his mother’s business. His mother had already built a reputation selling local dishes like koko and porridge, and Jonathan transformed it into a profitable enterprise.

“Most people don’t believe in what they have. They think success comes from other people’s business. I run my business for profit, but also to solve problems and create employment for others,” he says. He emphasizes that tuition and education helped him gain the skills to innovate and meet customer demands, while inspiration from businesses in Accra encouraged him to bring new ideas to Hohoe.

Jonathan’s business, Joenagrace A1 Catering Services, now operates multiple branches. They sell breakfast, supper, and a variety of dishes, including koko, oats, tea beverages, jollof rice, plain rice, fried rice, and Kenyan dishes. Some services, like delivery, are offered for free to meet customer needs.

He manages his team personally, working from 5 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily, ensuring operations run smoothly. “Some employees are lazy or dishonest if the boss isn’t present. That’s why I stay involved to make sure everything is done right. Most people speak positively about my business,” he explains.

Jonathan believes in entrepreneurship as a solution to youth unemployment, stating that the government should provide an enabling environment rather than being the primary source of jobs. He has maintained financial stability since starting the business and continues to grow it while honoring the family legacy.

His restaurant is located on Government Hospital Road, adjacent to the EP Park, serving customers with dedication, quality, and a focus on solving real problems through business.
