Evans Appiah Mensah, a Ghanaian based in Italy, has lived there for the past four years. Before relocating, he lived in Elmina, Ghana. He shared his story on how his father brought him to Italy while he was still in school. Evans comes from a large family of eight siblings, with six of them currently living in Italy.

According to Evans, when he first arrived in Italy, he worked hard, saved money, and began making long-term plans. His goal is to return to Ghana within the next ten years, so he decided to invest in himself and his future. He enrolled in Italian language classes and successfully obtained both the A1 and A2 certificates. Despite these achievements, he admitted that life in Italy can be stressful, which strengthened his desire to eventually resettle in Ghana. For now, he continues to live in his father’s house.

Evans also learned to operate a forklift and is currently searching for a job after quitting his welding job, which has left him unemployed for some time. Even so, he put his earnings to good use: he has been building a five-bedroom house in Elmina and has already reached the roofing stage. He plans to complete the project and return to Ghana to start a business.

He shared that he worked for three years and five months at a welding company, and most of his income went into the construction of his house. Evans is now seeking €2,000 to help him finish the roofing and prepare his return to Ghana, promising to pay back €2,500 by April. He explained that a ticket to Ghana costs €850, and the remaining funds would help him settle his plans.

Evans noted that he frequently experiences headaches, but hospital checks have shown no medical issue. Despite the challenges, he remains determined to complete his project in Elmina and move back home to start a new chapter.
