Kwabena Shares His Experience Living Abroad: “Australia Treats Both the Rich and Poor Fairly”

Kwabena, a Ghanaian based in Australia, shared his journey and experiences abroad during an interview with DJ Nyaami on SVTV Africa’s Daily Hustle Worldwide show.

According to him, living abroad is one of the best decisions he has ever made, and he believes anyone who discourages others from traveling is not being genuine.

“I wanted a better lifestyle, and when I moved abroad, I saw it. Here, once you’re qualified, you can easily get a job. That’s the life I was looking for,” he said.

However, Kwabena advised that people shouldn’t sell all their properties in Ghana just to travel overseas.

“The bad side of traveling abroad is when people sell everything they have back home just to come here. That’s not wise,” he cautioned.

Sharing his work experience in Australia, Kwabena revealed that many white people often question how Africans secure good jobs.

“Sometimes when I go to work, the whites ask how I got the job. Most of them won’t even study for the kind of work we do, but when they see Black people succeeding, they start asking unnecessary questions,” he explained.

He also noted that in Australia, skilled work is more respected than office jobs, unlike in some countries. Comparing his time in London to Australia, he said:

“In London, people often waste money — you send money there, spend it, and return home to look for more. But in Australia, the government has built a fair system that supports both the rich and the poor.”

Kwabena added that when he first arrived in Australia, a white man told him Ghana is blessed with many natural resources and couldn’t understand why many Ghanaians choose to move abroad.

“According to him, his research showed that Ghana has a lot of good things, but we don’t make good use of them. The whites think we are foolish because they don’t understand why we destroy our lands through illegal mining while our leaders and chiefs look on,” Kwabena concluded.
