Michael, a Ghanaian entrepreneur and CEO of Private Farms, has built a thriving agribusiness focused on mushroom production, mushroom snacks, cassava drinks, and other field-based ventures.

Speaking in an interview, Michael revealed that his journey began through years of learning and patience.

“I served my boss for a long time. He later decided to pay me monthly, but I stayed not because of the money — I wanted to learn the skills. Unfortunately, many young people today don’t want to learn; they want to make money immediately,” he said.

Michael believes that success in business requires honesty, patience, and a willingness to grow gradually.

“People are not honest these days — they lie a lot. But I believe in being genuine and faithful in everything I do,” he added.

His honesty and hard work eventually paid off.

“I sold drinks to a man who studied how I worked. He later sent me over ₵700,000 to buy acres of land for farming and even helped me build my house. That’s what honesty can do,” he shared.

Through Private Farms, Michael now engages in mushroom cultivation, snail and catfish farming, and cassava drink production. He encourages Ghanaians to explore the vast opportunities within the country rather than rushing abroad.

“There are many jobs in Ghana — we just don’t showcase them enough. People think they must travel to succeed, but that’s not true. Agriculture has so much potential,” he said

Michael continues to expand his business while mentoring others to venture into agribusiness.

“You don’t need to put your degree aside — just apply what you know in real life. Be patient, stay honest, and success will follow,” he concluded.
