Mawunyo, a Ghanaian lady based in Dansoman, has made an emotional appeal on SVTV Africa Connect as she searches for her two missing sisters, Mawusi and Mawulunye.

According to Mawunyo, her mother once lived at Agbogbloshie (Konkomba), where she struggled with drug addiction. “My mother used to take drugs, and whenever she gave birth, she would send the children to live with her mother. My grandmother was the one who raised me,” she said.

In her quest to find her family, Mawunyo went back to Konkomba to search for her father, whose name was Kofi. Sadly, she was told that he passed away about seven years ago. “They told me he had taken my elder sister to his hometown in the Volta Region,” she recalled.

Her search didn’t end there. She explained that her other sister was sent to an orphanage by her mother. “The orphanage was run by a woman named Sheila, a half-caste married to a white man. They owned a Montessori school around Spintex,” she recounted.

Mawunyo’s mother claimed that the woman and her husband later took her sister abroad and brought her back, but there were no official records or documents about the orphanage or the adoption process.

Currently, her mother lives around Achimota Railway, and when Mawunyo asked her to take her to meet her sister, her mother demanded money for drugs first. “She said if I don’t buy drugs for her, she won’t embrace me,” Mawunyo said tearfully.

Her mother also mentioned that Mawusi is now in Aflao or Afoiga, while the other sister is still with the white family. Mawunyo believes their names may have been changed — possibly to French names — making it harder to trace them.

“My mother’s name is Aminatu Mohammed, and I’m begging anyone who may know Mawusi or Mawulunye to help me find them,” she pleaded.
