Kofi Nyame, a Ghanaian Based in Norway, Shares His Journey on SVTV Africa

Kofi Nyame, a Ghanaian living in Norway, recently appeared on SVTV Africa’s Daily Hustle Worldwide show with DJ Nyaami.

He revealed that he returned to Ghana about three months ago and is currently residing in the country. “Back in Norway, I was based in Oslo,” he said.

After completing university and national service in Ghana, Kofi began doing evangelism and volunteer work. According to him, “In Ghana, you have to create your own job. If you depend on finding one, you might never get it.”

Kofi explained that it was his brother who encouraged him to apply for school in Norway. He eventually moved there in 2022 as a student. “Getting a job in Norway is easy,” he noted. “My friend who had moved to the U.S. helped me get a job while I was studying. During the summer, I could even work up to five different jobs.”

He pursued a degree in Community and Social Development. While studying and working, Kofi realized he would not stay in Norway for too long. “I worked hard, saved the money I wanted, and planned to return home,” he shared.

Kofi explained that studying abroad can be expensive. “You need about 30,000 as a financial guarantee. If you have a sponsor or relative, they can pay it for you, and you’ll work to pay them back. Unless you have an EU passport or a scholarship, it’s costly.”

He also compared job opportunities abroad to those in Ghana. “Working in Ghana is very difficult. It’s better to start and operate your own business,” he advised.

Kofi added that he hopes to start educational programs in rural communities to help young people develop skills and create opportunities for themselves.
