Ghanaian Nurse in the U.S. Shares Shocking Experience: “I Was Spiritually Controlled Like a Remote”
Ohemaa, a Ghanaian based in the United States, has shared a chilling story about how she once dated a man who allegedly used charms to control her every action.
In an interview with DJ Nyaami on SVTV Africa’s Daily Hustle Worldwide Show, she revealed that the man “charmed” her and made her act like a remote control — obeying whatever he told her to do.
“I never believed in juju, but it worked on me,” she confessed, warning others to be cautious about such spiritual manipulations.
Ohemaa, who currently lives in New Jersey, said she completed nursing school in Ghana and later moved to the U.S. in late 2006. “I used to work in hospitals back home,” she said. “When I arrived at JFK Airport, I was shocked — it was dirty. I told myself, ‘This isn’t the America I see on TV.’ I even wanted to go back home.”
She recounted that before traveling, she met a man in Ghana who claimed to be a prophet. “He told me God said I was his wife,” she narrated. “Before I knew it, we were married — I didn’t even understand what was happening.”
Just two weeks after arriving in the U.S., Ohemaa found out she was pregnant. “I went through hell in that marriage. We had two children together, but it was full of suffering and emotional abuse,” she revealed.
The marriage eventually collapsed six years ago, and although she has healed, she admitted that another man she met later in Ghana also tried to destroy her life.
“Because I divorced him, he refuses to let me see my kids — even though I gave birth to them in America,” she said sadly. “Before marrying him, I didn’t even love him. There was no connection. When I was under the charm, I sent him money whenever he asked. But through God’s intervention, I was finally delivered.”
Reflecting on her experience, she advised the younger generation to avoid “hook-up culture” and be cautious in relationships.
“I didn’t learn my lesson the first time, so I repeated the class,” she said with a smile. “Now I’m healed and focused on my life. I haven’t traveled to many countries, but I’m content living in the U.S. For now, I’m single and not thinking about marriage.”
