Osei Kwame Onyina: From London to Ghana – Building a Thriving Electrical and Plumbing Business

Osei Kwame Onyina, a Ghanaian born and raised in Ghana but based in the United Kingdom for several years, has returned home to establish a successful business. Inspired by DJ Nyaami’s videos on SVTV Africa, he made the bold decision to relocate permanently to Ghana and start a new chapter.

“I lived in South London for nine years, and when I came back, I decided to venture into the electrical and plumbing supply business,” he shared. “I currently run two combined stores, and business has been moving well. I chose this field because people are building every day.”

Osei Kwame revealed that he opened his business about eight months ago, and it has already gained strong recognition in the area.

“I can say it’s doing well. When I compare where I was before and what I’m doing now, I’m proud of how far I’ve come. I’ve made my shop one of the most enviable in the community,” he added.

He also opened up about his life abroad and the struggles he faced while living in London.

“Life abroad is stressful—it’s all about work, house, and work again. At a point, I almost lost my mind due to depression. I didn’t tell anyone I was coming to Ghana because I knew they would discourage me, so I took the decision on my own. A few of my belongings remained behind, but I had already made up my mind,” he recounted.

Osei Kwame believes that many people wish to return home but lack the courage to do so. He stressed that the same dedication he gave to working for others abroad is now fueling his success in Ghana.

“The energy I used to work for the white man is the same energy I’ve invested in my own business—and it’s paying off,” he said. “One man even wanted to sell his four-bedroom house to travel abroad, but I advised him not to. People often say I can talk like that because I made my money abroad, but the truth is, you can make it anywhere if you work hard.

He warned against selling properties just to chase dreams of traveling abroad, explaining that at a certain age, relocating can become more of a burden than a blessing.

Today, Osei Kwame Onyina Enterprise stands as proof that with determination and hard work, success is possible right here in Ghana.

“I’ve returned for good,” he said confidently. “Ghana is home, and I’m proud of what I’ve built.”
