Anita Davies Cocks, a Ghanaian Based in the U.S., Shares Her Story of Divorce, Single Motherhood, and Life in Alaska

Anita Davies Cocks, a Ghanaian living in Alaska in the United States, recently appeared as a returning guest on SVTV Africa’s Daily Hustle Worldwide show with DJ Nyaami. On her previous appearance, she spoke about her marriage to her ex-husband, a white American, but this time she opened up about life after their divorce.

According to Anita, she has been divorced for three years now. While her ex-husband is supposed to pay child support, he often refuses, claiming that she only married him for citizenship. “I have always been grateful to him for bringing me abroad, but he acted like a spiritual husband in my home. It was not easy,” she explained.

She currently lives in Alaska with her children, one of whom is in high school. Anita revealed that she bought her house by herself, but life in her neighborhood is sometimes difficult because her white neighbor often monitors her family, reports them to authorities, and even calls the police over parking or when the kids are playing around.

On relationships, Anita made it clear that she is not interested in long-distance dating. “Most of the men who approach me online are from Ghana, but I don’t want long distance. I have everything already. If there’s someone serious here in America, I’m ready,” she said.

Despite being single for three years, Anita says she believes in God’s timing and refuses to settle for anything that isn’t from Him. “I’m not a bad-looking woman, but sometimes I ask myself what’s wrong with me. Then I remind myself that God’s time is the best,” she shared.

Speaking about life in Alaska, Anita explained that the government supports residents with $2,000 monthly because they encourage people to live there due to the oil industry. She added that life is manageable as long as one can adjust to the extreme weather.
