Kwame, a Ghanaian man based in the UK, was a guest on SVTV Africa’s Daily Hustle Worldwide show with DJ Nyaami, where he opened up about his difficult experiences with marriage and life abroad.

Kwame revealed that he was previously married in Ghana before relocating to the UK. He had heard stories of people who lived abroad for decades but couldn’t return home — stories he never imagined would reflect his own life. Unfortunately, his marriage turned out to be one of his greatest regrets.

“We stayed married for 11 years, but we only lived together for 2 years. After the wedding, the money we made was taken by my wife’s father. That matter even went to court,” he said. Kwame added that the relationship affected him mentally, especially when his wife bought a plot of land for him only to sell it later without his consent.

Kwame recalled selling his 4×4 vehicle in 2014–2015 for GHC 14,000 to an old soldier. Later, he and his wife purchased another car for GHC 22,000 with plans to use it for business. He even went as far as importing a car from the U.S. to Ghana, hoping to sell it to reinvest in business. However, his father-in-law claimed ownership of the car and took it from him.

He explained that his relationship with his wife and her family grew increasingly toxic. “Not every old man wants the best for you. Once you become a threat to them, they’ll frustrate you,” he noted.

Before traveling abroad, Kwame had bought land and informed his wife about it. Upon his arrival in the UK, he worked hard to earn more money. To his surprise, his second child was named in church without his knowledge. “A pastor told me they named my daughter without even asking me,” he said.

Kwame also revealed that he was once arrested and later released. His mother advised him to leave all the properties to his wife, but he refused, feeling betrayed after investing so much. “I came abroad with GHC 200,000 and ended up wasting it all,” he lamented.

His wife later demanded compensation, accusing him of sleeping with a white woman. “She cheated and still wants compensation for my relationship with a white woman,” Kwame added.

Despite all the challenges, his greatest desire now is to return to Ghana and raise his children. “I love my kids, and I want to be part of their lives. I can’t stay in the UK and let someone else train my children,” he concluded.
