Ghanaians soldiers serving In Russia Army Heaven Gold and Kwabena Ballo appeared on SVTV Africa to clarify widespread misconceptions about his earlier video regarding fellow Ghanaian soldier, Ayoba, who was believed to be missing in Russia. According to Heaven, bloggers twisted and misrepresented his message. He emphasized that his intent was not to create panic or appear envious of Ayoba but to raise concern. While his initial video about Ayoba being missing went viral, the follow-up confirming that he had heard from Ayoba was largely ignored.
“I was already known before joining the Russian army,” he said. “After I woke up, my phone was flooded with messages. People misunderstood everything.”
Kwabena Ballo’s Account
Kwabena Ballo added that another content creator, Carlos, has also been misleading the public.
“Carlos is not a funny guy or a genuine content creator,” he said. “His TikTok account has been blocked multiple times. He takes videos from others and creates confusion, saying one soldier envies another—even though we’re all friends. He wouldn’t even let his girlfriend come forward to clarify things.”
Kwabena continued,
“Many of us initially wanted to join the Ghana Army, but even when you try to bribe your way in, they still won’t accept you. The Russian army, on the other hand, recruited us, gave us contracts and money. Now, instead of verifying stories, people are spreading negative news.”
He also expressed concern for his family’s safety. “I have a young child and a wife in Ghana. I don’t want anyone attacking them over misinformation.”
Heaven Gold explained that many soldiers don’t list their families as next of kin because they don’t want their relatives to know how much money they’re making. This complicates matters when a soldier goes missing or dies.
“The family is supposed to hold the soldier’s contact details and use that to go to the embassy to finalize things. But many avoid naming next of kin to keep their salary private,” he said.
“In the beginning, they took my phones, but my wife knew who to call to check if I was alive or dead.”
Heaven Gold also expressed frustration about his efforts being unappreciated.
“I wanted to help the families of dead soldiers retrieve their money, but Ghanaians are ungrateful,” he said. “I even sent Ayoba’s video to the Ministry of Defence to help find my Ghanaian brother.”
He urged families of missing soldiers to take practical steps.
“If you’re looking for your missing brother, get a visa, come to Russia, and go to the Ministry of Defence. Your brother might be arrested, injured, or even alive. But don’t wait for rumors—verify it yourself.”
