Girlfriend of Ghanaian Soldier in Russia Debunks Viral Capture Video

Alice, the girlfriend of Ayoba—also known as Heaven Gold—has come forward to debunk claims that her boyfriend has been captured in Ukraine. Ayoba, a Ghanaian who joined the Russian army, was rumored to have been arrested by Ukrainian forces just days after passing out of training.

In an exclusive interview with DJ Nyaami on SVTV Africa’s Daily Hustle Worldwide show, Alice explained that the video circulating online, which allegedly shows Ayoba being captured, is fake. According to her, the video was manipulated by Ukrainian hackers who edited footage originally taken during Ayoba’s military enrollment.

“We usually speak on Fridays because when they are on duty, their phones are collected. He told me he would call when he got the phone back. The next day, I saw a video online suggesting he had been captured,” she said. “But he later video-called me and confirmed he is still in camp and safe. I even saw his commanders and other soldiers during the call.”

Alice believes the misleading video was part of a disinformation campaign aimed at portraying Russian military losses. She stressed that Ayoba is not missing or captured, contrary to social media claims.

While she admits she was scared at first, Alice clarified that she never forced Ayoba to join the army. “He made that decision himself. Life in Russia isn’t easy without proper documents. If you don’t have your papers, you can’t work, and the police will arrest you. No woman would willingly encourage her boyfriend to join the army, but it’s a tough life here without status.”

She added that she had informed Ayoba’s family when the rumors began. Though they were initially worried, they are now relieved after hearing from him.

In a related note, Heaven Gold himself confirmed that many of these so-called “capture” videos are edited by hackers. “When you join the army, Russian sites film you during the process. The hackers access these videos, edit them, and circulate them online to make it look like we’ve been arrested. It’s all propaganda.
