CEO of Threads Couture, Annalois, Tours Europe While Promoting Her Brand

Anaalois, the Ghana-based CEO of fashion brand Threads Couture, is currently on a European tour and was recently in Frankfurt, Germany. During her visit, she granted an interview on SVTV Africa’s Business Link with DJ Nyaami.

“This is a short tour,” she said. “My husband—who is also my co-manager—and I visited two cities in Paris, Amsterdam, Belgium, and returned to Germany. But I’ll soon head back to Ghana. Consistency in my work is very important.”

While Anaalois has visited countries like Singapore before, this marks her first tour in Europe. She is a fashion designer specializing in wedding garments and female dresses. Her brand started small but has grown steadily over the years.

Annalois studied Biological Sciences at KNUST and completed her national service. Although her parents initially wanted her to become a doctor—especially since many of her siblings are doctors and pharmacists—she followed her passion for fashion.

“At first, my father wasn’t happy. But when he saw my work and the clients I was attracting, he became proud,” she shared. “We even had people coming to our home for fittings when he returned from London.”

She established her shop at an Estate, near Ghana’s Pentecost University, and has been running her business since 2015.

“I started with just GHC 1,000. I bought my first machine for GHC 750. I didn’t have much, but I believed in my vision.”

Today, Threads Couture has a physical store, full-time employees, and offers internships. Institutions like KNUST, Accra Technical University, Kumasi Technical University, and Winneba send students to train with her.

“Most students only know the theory. Schools must strike a balance with practicals because real-world skills are essential,” she advised.

Annalois hopes to open a branch in Accra and possibly expand overseas. However, she encourages Ghanaians to build their dreams at home rather than seek low-paying jobs abroad.

“Why should I leave a thriving business in Ghana to do cleaning jobs in Europe?” she asked. “I came here with dresses made for clients, and some even took me out to dinner. Others have become like sisters.”

Annalois attributes much of her success to the support of her husband, who is also passionate about construction. She has won several awards, including one in Singapore and another at the Ashanti Region’s Children Typified Awards.

“I feel fulfilled. I love sewing. Seeing someone walk down the aisle in one of my gowns brings me to tears.”

She ended by encouraging young people:

“If you have something good going on in Ghana, stay focused and work hard—you will succeed.”
