Leticia popularly known as Obaa Leti is a trailblazing Ghanaian woman living in Italy, recently shared her inspiring journey on SVTV Africa’s Daily Hustle Worldwide with DJ Nyaami. Currently residing in Vernò, in the Modena province of Italy, Leticia has been living abroad for the past 10 years.

Originally from Akyem Oda in Ghana’s Eastern Region, Leticia spent most of her early years in Tema with her husband, who later moved to Italy. She eventually joined him through Kpone Katamanso. Back in Ghana, she had never driven a car and worked as a petty trader. After moving to Italy, she stayed home to learn the Italian language and focused on raising their two children.

Leticia’s breakthrough came when her husband, who already had a driver’s license, encouraged her to pursue driving. Despite the tough exams and requirements, including obtaining a Category C license and a driver’s certificate, she succeeded. Within three months of completing her training, she landed a job as a truck driver.

She noted that while her husband once tried teaching her to drive a small car in Ghana, it was in Italy that she truly learned and developed her skills. She emphasized that owning a car in Italy is crucial, especially for women seeking job opportunities.

Together with her husband, Leticia has helped others—particularly fellow Ghanaians—understand the Italian driving license process. They’ve used their knowledge and social media platforms, including TikTok, to support others in securing licenses.

Leticia has now been in the trucking business for nearly two years and proudly states that she hasn’t come across another Ghanaian female truck driver in Italy. She completed her training alongside a Nigerian man who also secured employment after the program.

Though some people initially discouraged her, she is now reaping the rewards—earning a steady income, exploring cities across Italy, and enjoying a better life with her family. She admitted that she once dreamed of moving to Canada but now prefers Italy, finding it a peaceful and child-friendly country.

Leticia and her husband share a strong bond and mutual understanding. She believes that managing finances wisely and building together as a couple are key reasons many women remain committed to their marriages.

Follow Leticia on TikTok and other social media platforms under the handle @ObaaLeti, where she continues to inspire others, especially women, to break barriers and chase their dreams.
