David Wilson Popularly known as Teacher Achabu, an international science teacher, was a returning guest on Daily Hustle Worldwide, where he shared his journey and experiences living and teaching in various countries.

Originally from Ghana, he has taught in Vietnam and Indonesia, and he discussed his transition to the latter, highlighting how the move to an international school in Indonesia enhanced his career prospects and CV.

Achabu’s teaching philosophy centers on the importance of continuously developing and marketing one’s skills.

He emphasized that after learning a skill, it’s crucial to find places or people who will value and compensate you for it.

Having taught topics like photosynthesis in Ghana, Vietnam, and now Indonesia, he pointed out that salary levels can vary greatly depending on where you teach, with countries valuing different skill sets in unique ways.

He also spoke about his personal life, including marrying his Filipino wife, whom he describes as supportive, hardworking, and kind.

Their wedding was simple, reflecting their modest approach to life, which contrasts with the often expensive and lavish ceremonies seen elsewhere.

He praised his wife’s character, noting how her kindness even extended to supporting his family financially when needed.

Their marriage ceremony was low-cost, with the groom purchasing his own suit from Ashaiman market, while his wife’s wedding dress was affordable.

Regarding his work in Indonesia, Achabu shared that his school covers his accommodation and offers allowances for living costs and flights, making the financial aspect of living there very manageable. He said:

My school covers my $900 two-bedroom apartment, cost-of-living allowance, flight allowance, and other business-related expense

He also noted that while food is inexpensive in Indonesia, the internet can be costly compared to Vietnam.

However, he highlighted the kindness of the Indonesian people and his positive impression of the country.

Achabu further reflected on the idea that having a passport from a developed country is no longer a priority for success.

He revealed that many people, especially from the U.S., are leaving their home country to seek better opportunities abroad.

Despite the competition in the international teaching sector, he emphasized the importance of standing out and showcasing one’s value.

With credentials like a U.S. teaching license, and certifications from organizations like Google and the United Nations, Achabu believes in continuously improving himself to be more competitive in the global job market.

His story serves as an inspiration for aspiring international teachers, demonstrating the value of skill development, personal growth, and resilience in the face of challenges.
