Pastor and husband of singer iOna Reine, Mr Kwame Okrah, revealed that some of his friends called his wife a prostitute and advised him against marrying her.
In an interview on SVTV Africa with DJ Nyaami, Mr Okrah mentioned that he blocked his friends who spoke ill about his wife, iOna and advised him not to marry her. This was in response to how his family and friends reacted to him marrying a former secular artist.
“My mom knew her for her song ‘Obra,’ but they didn’t know the ‘bad’ side to her. I left certain groups because of her. Some even asked why I was planning to marry a ‘prostitute. They asked why I wanted to marry someone like her, but marriage in Ghana is between two families and not just the couple.
So it was not just my decision but my whole family. I cut off many of my friends and colleagues because of that. I have not regretted meeting or marrying her. I realised that what we see on social media is not reality. You might see her tattoos, and think of her in some way, but it is not as it is.”
Moreover, Mr Okra added that he is proud that his wife has worldly experience because he believes iOna would be perfect in winning souls for Christ.
Mr Okrah shared how they met. According to Pastor Okrah, he was a fan of her music but could not follow her journey as a secular musician because of his faith. Eventually, he discovered iOna had been born again through her Facebook posts and sent her a DM.
