UK-based Ghanaian Vera disclosed that her father brought her to the UK and eventually threw her out of his house due to a misunderstanding.
According to Vera, her father charged her an amount of £5000 after asking her to leave. However, Vera’s father did not inform her about the cost before leaving Ghana.
Speaking on SVTV Africa, Vera mentioned that she could not juggle work and her education and was forced into marrying her ex-husband to pay off the debt.
“My father cared for me so much in the beginning. It was my stepmom, but I wouldn’t blame her often because my mom and I don’t always get along. The incident happened in Ghana, and he stopped talking to me after I returned to the UK.
He threw me out and did not even find out where I lived. He asked me to pay £5000 while I was still in college. I got married because of the debt, and we had kids. So I couldn’t ask him for it anymore. I couldn’t pay the £5000 in full.”
Moreover, Vera indicated that her husband did not cater to the family’s needs and spent his money gambling. This pushed her to settle for a divorce. Vera is currently a single parent with no support from her ex-husband.
