UK-based Ghanaian George Mensah revealed that he got broke after returning to Ghana and had to work as a bus conductor (mate) for two years.

In a Daily Hustle Worldwide interview with DJ Nyaami, George revealed that he returned to Ghana to marry his Italian girlfriend. However, he had to remain in the country while his visa application was being processed. Unfortunately, the application was ultimately denied.

“I met an Italian lady and dated her for six months. So we decided to go to Ghana to get married and submitted our documents four days later. She spent two weeks and left, but I had to stay and wait for my visa to be approved. I thought I would get it within three months.

I stayed in Ghana waiting for two years and two months. My wife lost hope in it. We had to appeal the result, and my wife had to confirm that our marriage was real, but she never answered their calls,” he said.

According to George, he became jobless in Ghana and had to work as a trotro mate to cater for his kids. He said, “I had family abroad, but no one was bothered about my situation. I was not shy because I had to survive, and my wife couldn’t send me money.”

George’s appeal was reversed, and Italian immigration was forced to give him the visa. He shared his excitement upon hearing the news.
