Egypt-based Ghanaian Elorm revealed that her agent stole her passport after she arrived and demanded she pay back the cost incurred in sponsoring the trip to get it back.

In a chat on Daily Hustle Worldwide with DJ Nyaami, Elorm disclosed that the agent charged her ₵57,000 to work in Egypt but at a meagre salary of ₵1700 a month. However, she only found out about the wage upon arrival.

“Before I left Ghana, the agent told me I’d make $4000 to $5000 a month to settle my $5000 (₵57,000) cost of bringing me to Egypt. It was all lies. I make $150 (₵1700) monthly and give it all to her.

I take up side jobs to make enough for food. I can’t return to Ghana because she took my passport without my consent,” she narrated.

According to Elorm, the Ghanaian youths in Egypt have made a formal complaint to the Ghana Embassy in Egypt but to no avail. She mentioned that she regrets travelling to Egypt and sometimes cries herself to sleep.

Elorm added that she is one of 9 children, most of whom depend on her. She shared more about working in the Arab Republic below.
