Omari Osei, a Ghanaian based in the UK, stated that his wages alone motivate him to work harder because he knows he will be paid what is due to him and on time.

During an interview with DJ Nyaami on SVTV AFRICA, Omari pointed out that Ghanaian employers often demand high efficiency but fail to pay their employees enough. Omari added that he does not worry about salary and concentrates on working harder and sometimes longer for extra cash.

“I blamed the employers in Ghana. If they paid the workers well, they would put in the effort and work harder. Don’t expect them to work effectively when you haven’t paid salaries.

It won’t motivate me because I have to use my money for transport the next day. But in the UK, no one has to tell me to work harder because I’m paid on time. I even pray for more hours because I know I’ll be paid what I’m due,” he explained.

Mr Omari admitted that working in the UK is tougher than in Ghana and almost returned to Ghana after a few months in the UK. He said, ”After I received my salary, I reflected on my job in Ghana and what I earned here. So I decided to stay for a while and save more money because it is better here.”
