Award-winning Ghanaian rapper Dr Cryme has stated that Ghanaians are hardworking, but many still live in poverty because the system has failed the citizens.

In an interview on SVTV AFRICA with DJ Nyaami Dr Cryme indicated that the citizens are willing and able to work however, there are no job opportunities available for them.

“We would have been okay if there were enough jobs in Ghana. The normal Ghanaian is never a lazy person. Why do we thrive abroad and get higher positions? That’s because we love to work. How can I say I’m lazy when there’s no work?

There should be more than enough jobs to choose from. Otherwise, you accept what is available. You do more but earn less. Ghana is not a poor country. It is the system that has failed us,” he said.

He blamed the governing leaders of the country (not limited to the current) for their inability to restructure the system to suit Ghanaians.

“The average Ghanaian does not need much but a three square meal and have some fun on the weekends. The masses are not under pressure to build houses or buy a car, but the predecessors failed us. But you see, the systems are not there. I call  Ghana a freestyle country; everyone does want they want,” Dr Cryme added.
