Joseph Kumah travelled to the UK a month ago after secretly exchanging his family’s land worth GHS90,000 for a visa.

In an interview on Daily Hustle Worldwide with DJ Nyaami, Joseph mentioned that he sold trousers to cater for his university education but could not secure a job after.

He said, “I couldn’t afford to pay for the hostel. So I bought a mattress and begged some guys to perch in their rooms. I studied IT, but I even couldn’t afford a laptop. I had to deal with it till I graduated.”

Eventually, Joseph convinced his mother to give him his late brother’s land documents for safekeeping, but he had an anterior motive. He did not hesitate to give it out when he heard about a caretaker job in the UK.

“I told him I didn’t have the cash, but I have a family land I’m willing to trade for the visa. There is no support from anywhere, and we’re already hustling, so it’s better to travel instead. It was worth GHS90,000. We changed it to his name and began the process without my family’s knowledge,” he said.

According to Joseph, he only told his parents after his visa was approved. Joseph’s father was excited about it, but his mother was not. However, they managed to convince her and encouraged him as he left the country.
