Netherlands-based Ghanaian DJ Kofi revealed that like many Dutch people, he survives on credit because more than half his annual salary goes into bills and taxes.

In an interview on Daily Hustle Worldwide, DJ Kofi indicated that many Ghanaians often see the flashy things they (Ghanaians abroad) display on social media and yearn to travel too. However, most live on credit and cannot afford the lifestyle they display.

“The Ghanaian youths are desperate. I agree Ghana is tough, but they can start a small business. Instead of starting something small, the youth would rather spend their savings on connection to travel abroad. I make 32,000 Euros yearly, but almost 28,000 Euros go into bills. So ask me how I survive.

I depend on credit cards, the little DJing I do and my wife’s support. That keeps us moving, but someone might think I’m making money after converting to cedis and would want to travel too,” he noted.

DJ Kofi added that there are many Ghanaians who travelled to the Netherlands but are in prison. He admitted that the Netherlands’ system is better than Ghanas’, but he will not advise a gainfully employed Ghanaian youth to travel abroad.
