Belgium-based Ghanaian Destiny Bee has disclosed that she had to pretend to be mentally challenged for six months in a Greece camp for a permit to continue her journey.

In an interview on Daily Hustle Worldwide, Destiny indicated that she had always wanted to travel out of the country because she believed she was destined to live abroad. Destiny tried countless times and fell victim to visa fraud twice, but she was not dissuaded.

Eventually, she found a genuine way to leave Ghana for Turkey to work. However, the stories she was told about the country were false.

“We worked 12 hours in a sewing factory, and I couldn’t save enough. So I wanted to return to Ghana, but a friend told me about a ‘connection’ to Greece. We had to cross the sea to Greece. We were packed into a truck like animals on our way to the sea, where we’d cross to Greece. Whenever we met police, we had to stay in a bush for hours.”

In such situations, two male immigrants are taught how to ride the boat within a few minutes and left to their fate.

According to Destiny, they were about 64 immigrants from different countries, including Syria, Guinea, Ghana etc. The Ghanaians were about 26, including pregnant ladies.

“We were on the Mediterranean Sea for 5 hours before we were rescued. I had to act mentally ill to be considered vulnerable. It was easier to get a permit out of the camp that way.

I did that for about six months and was transferred to a mental facility. I got the ‘Open card’ permit and transferred to another facility in Athens, but I had to continue with the act for a while,” she narrated.
